Zuri is Swahili for 'beautiful'. Now that she has her grown-up feathers I know I picked the right name :heart:

My baby Zu is a 'dutch blue' colored lovebird, and by this lovely portrait, you would think she's quite a sweetheart. DO NOT BE FOOLED. She's very people-friendly and loves sitting on your shoulder and fixing your hair the way she likes it, but if you get on her bad side she's a little demon who can poke a hole through your thumb in one vicious growl--peck-maneuver. She also hates pens and pencils with a surprising amount of passion.

I love her anyway though ^^

Wow. They can come in blue! I thought when you said baby feathers those were going to turn green. Man was I wrong. She looks very beautiful and you took a wonderful shot. ^^

They actually come is a bazillion colors. Green, blue, yellow, purple(which is really gorgeous), white, etc.

Hehe, she's very cute. I have a love bird myself. (A male named Polly. I was so original when I was little!) He used to be green, but now he's yellow. I think the yellow feathers are like grey hairs for love birds. x3 He is around 14 years old.

I like her perch too, did you make it?

He may have been pied and you just didn't know it? I hear sometimes the pied mutation can 'hide', and then pop up unexpectedly at a molt. Could be 'grey' too, I've never heard of that but it would be neat if my green lovebird got yellow feathers when he's older :)


The perch shes on is actually a big 'tree' I made myself out of branches from a maple tree we had to cut down, it's about 7 feet tall!

It could be a mutation. I can't say for sure I guess. But it seemed that over time is green started to delude itself. XD

That's so cool. We had some store bought perches, but nothing nearly as spiffy.

I think that's kind of neat. I've read so much about lovebirds because I fanatical at making sure I know how to take good care of my pets, but I've never heard of a thing like that before :XD:

Well, our neighbor asked us to cut down our maple tree because it was planted to close to his house... I figured I might as well utilize what was left of it :)

My grandma kind of stole him from us. XP Aw well, she spoils him, so I don't mind.
In his age, he forgot most of his tricks and words. Yet he still responds to my brother when he says "Plastic, chu chu!" Oo;

Looks like my moonbeam! though I think beamer is a Colbalt blue (thought dutch and colbalt seem really similair)
